I downloaded the free version off the net and I can not work out how to use it
Maybe I might have more luck if I bought the full working version????
It has me completely stumped!

I have used the landscaping and the interior design parts of the software. Its pretty easy to use, (could use it without using going through the tutorials) and the 3D visualisations are brilliant.
I did find the library of objects pretty limited, espcially things like tile/brick colours, but for the price it is great. Gives a pretty good idea of colours work etc.
Be interested to see how your house comes out?

My work is half finished.
The interior of the yet to be built house. I got as far as the floor plan and then gave up after playing with the colours cause we hadnt had the colour appointments yet. Now we have I might finish it off.

This was the exterior of an old house, was playing with landscaping.

Good to see what others have done?

I'm using Chief Architect 8 - Better Homes and Gardens also. I find it a convenient piece of software and what's better is you don't have to know cad to do a quick house plan.
And what's better about it, is that you can export DWG files which you can then use to import into 3D Studio, Autocad, Sketchup then onto a renderer.
Here's a video walkthrough I did using Chief Architect BH&G's 8, Sketchup and Kerkythea.

Can I suggest you also look at MyVirtualHome.. it's Australian, it has parts from many Australian suppliers so you don't have problems matching your interiors, and it's easy to use. Oh and most importantly, it's free.

Thanks guys for posting your work. It looks great. I've been using sketchup and have a pretty good grasp on it now. Am I missing a lot by not having a crack at the Better Homes and Gardens program?
I had a quick look at the MyVirtualHome software but my computer struggled a bit. I think it's time to upgrade.

ElephantGuy... if I were you, i'd stick with Sketchup, even though it's probably quicker to create wallspans in BHG or MyVirtualHome. Once you're pretty familiar with Sketchup, you can get your models into some serious renderers and go crazy with texture and lighting.
Here's one I knocked up in SU+Renderer a minute ago.

Thanks Howie that looks pretty good. If I can get results like you have shown then I have no reason to move away from Sketchup. I haven't used any renderers yet, is there any that you would reccomend? I'm only dabbling at home so I don't want to be spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars, I like free.

I'd suggest looking into Vray or Kerkythea. There's quite a number of them out there at the moment, each with their own good and bads. Kerky's a little easier to use, but vray has a larger user base.
