Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Dust Jacket Condition: None as issued. This well-loved copy is the 1947 Fifteenth printing of the "De Luxe" edition. Pages show obvious wear with spots, creases, edge fraying - but all appear legible. Cover has obvious surface and edge wear. Five-ring binding is in very good condition. Printed just after World War II, these recipes are likely ones that returned soldiers enjoyed, prepared by their mothers or grandmothers. This copy was heavily used; a testament, perhaps, to the recipes within.
Cloth. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This large storybook contains 50 "favorite stories, poems, and songs from children's literature with illustrations from famous editions." It includes such well known titles as The Little Red Hen, The Story of Little Black Sambo, Uncle Remus Initiates the Little Boy, The Wind, The Story of Live Dolls, The Ants and the Grasshopper and finishes with The Night Before Christmas. The 151 pages have illustrations on every page in a variety of colors. The condition is near fine. The pages are clean and free of marks, tears and folds. There is an inscription of a previous owner on the ffl. The yellow cloth cover is colorfully decorated on front and is free of soiling or signs of wear. The corners are sharp and the binding is tight.

Ring-bound. Condition: Very Good. De Luxe edition, 5th printing, 1944. Boards worn, age-soiled, and edgeworn with points of fraying to corners. Many pages also have light edgewear, or weakening structure around the hole punches, but without effect on recipes. Basic instruction pages from some chapters have been relocated to the beginning, as a kind of quick reference, but all pages are present. Interior toned, with light marginal soiling throughout. The book is supplemented with recipes from Better Homes & Gardens magazine articles from the 1940s, one of which has 'This sheet has been to Europe and back!' in light pencil, dated 1945. Some of the index pages have new recipes written in the blank line items printed for that purpose; each of these has a corresponding recipe page added in by the previous owner at the promised location. Two notes on temperature safety from magazines or newspapers have been taped to inside front cover. The interior is otherwise free of owner markings.

Original mustard colored cloth binding with Little Black Sambo in the bottom right hand corner and story on the inside. The Pledge of Allegiance DOES NOT have "Under God' included. Interior is tight, mostly clean and, except for prior owner's name in nameplate and library envelop pasted inside rear cover, unmarked. Hardcover has illustrated on mustard base cloth boards with black lettering and full color designs, but no DJ. I think this may have been a classroom library book rather than a public or school library book. It has been handled by a child with some tears and smudges on favorite stories, none on others. Child's name on presentation page adds no value. Copyright as this collection 1950, individual stories and illustrations copyrighted separately. No edition/printing info found. Printed in U.S.A. It looks SUPER under the fresh mylar cover that I've added. The yellow book is sturdy, crisp and very clean. Owner name on the front endpaper has been covered with white-out. 1950 Meredith Press Edition (but NOT the rare first printing).

A dampstain is seen at the gutter/spine at the first few pages at front and rear of the book. No other stains that I could see although there is some scattered light foxing to some pages. There is no stain to the spine of the dust jacket. The scarce jacket has some wear, chipping and short tears around the edges, corners, and spine ends. Hardcover. Condition: Good. De Luxe Edition, Fourth Printing. G, no DJ. Scarce thus. Light to moderate signs of wear and asoiling to exterior, binding solid and straight, interior clean and unmarked, pages tanned. Clearly read, but a nice copy.

Corners are all sharp - no bumps. Yellow boards with illustrations on front cover. This edition contains Little Black Sambo. DJ is very damaged and scarce in any condition. DJ is worn on edges. Back panel and back flap are all present. Front flap top 1/4is torn off and tear includes top corner of front panel. Also good-size piece missing on front panel bottom corner and spine corner, including spine panel. This is the nicest copy I've had of the first story book. This is also the first DJ I've had with the first story book.
